For Longhorn Racing, we are designing and building a solar-powered car on a one-year build cycle for the Formula Sun Grand Prix—a track race in Topeka, Kansas. My contributions so far are a flush latch to hold the canopy (the windshield) closed, a tilting mechanism to raise the top shell up and hold it at a 60 to 82 degree angle, and the canopy hinge.
